DIY Over-sized Tie Dye Crew neck Sweatshirt

Hey cupcakes! Today I will be teaching how to make your very own over-sized tie dye crew neck sweatshirt!!!! Over-sized sweatshirts are cute, trendy, and casual, and can be rocked with a pair of leggings or some skinny jeans. Tie dying is super duper easy, and I have done so much tie dying this summer :) You can dye your sweatshirt your favorite colors, the colors of your favorite sports team or college, or rainbow for a fun hippie look! Adding a cute burst of color with some tie dye makes this crew neck the perfect summer staple! Let's get started!!!!! :)

What You Need
- Crew neck sweatshirt in a size bigger than normal (I used an old gray sweatshirt from my dad!)
- A tie dye kit
- Water
- Plastic wrap
- Rubber gloves (might come in kit)

Directions
1. Place your sweatshirt on a flat surface outside (make sure you put down newspaper so the ground doesn't get dyed!)

2. Wearing gloves, fill up the dye containers with water and shake up to disperse the dye

3. Dye the sweatshirt by splatter painting it!!!!!! (If you want a certain design you can go online to look up other tie dye tutorials) I used purple and light blue dye and it turned out super cute! :)
4. Flip the sweatshirt over and dye that side too :P

5. Wrap the sweatshirt in plastic wrap and let sit according to the directions of the tie dye kit... Usually this is about 6-8 hours!

6. After the time is up, unwrap the plastic and wash out the extra dye <3

7. Wash on the hottest setting BY ITSELF, so the dye doesn't ruin other clothes. After this first washing the dye will not run :)

8. Let dry and Ta-da! Your over-sized sweatshirt is finished and ready to rock!

Did you enjoy this DIY? What other DIYs would you like to see??? Comment below!!!!!!!!! :D

How To Get Rid of Cramps

Hey cupcakes! Let's face it, periods are pretty crappy..... And to make them worse, many women (myself included) have to deal with cramps. :( NOT COOL!!!!!!
Throughout my years, I have found some ways to combat these terrible cramps, and I hope they help you battle the cramp battle too! Enjoy! :)

1. MEDICINE - I cannot express to you enough how excellent and speedy medicine is to deal with cramps. I personally use Ibuprofen, and it takes the pain away quickly and lasts for half the day! Many women use other medicines like Midol, etc. so find the medicine that works best for you!!!!
2. Heating pads - Sometimes my cramps aren't bad enough to take pills (I rarely ever take medicine, so I like to not use it unless I really have to), and I find that heating pads will cure small cramps. It relaxes the muscles in the stomach area and feels super nice! If you don't own a heating pad, you can fill a sock with uncooked rice and then place it in the microwave until it is warm :) That works just as well!
3. Baths - Baths help warm up the muscles too, so I enjoy steaming in the bath tub to relax myself, cure my cramps, and release all my stress.

4. Be active and stretch - Sometimes staying active and walking or running will help cure cramps. I have heard many people say stretching helps too!

I hope these tips will help you in the future war against cramps!!!! Don't cry through the cramps!!!!
 It WILL get better!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
Have a great day! :)

My Favorite (and Least Favorite!) Books of All Time

Hey cupcakes! I don't really talk about books very often on The Chic Cupcake, but I LOVE them! You can always find me reading some kind of novel or story whenever I have free time. I especially enjoy going to the library and choosing a random book off a random shelf because you never know what awesome book you may find! I think that popular books aren't always the best, so I enjoy less popular books more :) Here is a list of books you must read!!!!!!

1. The Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage - I talked about Jenna from this series on an earlier post, and these novels are AMAZING! There are 7 books in the series (Magyk, Flyte, Physik, Queste, Syren, Darke, and Fyre) and are way way wayyyyy better than the Harry Potter series! I'm not kidding! There is magic, adventure, comedy, everything! I could talk about how amazing these books are for days and weeks at a time so I will just end it there <3 They are a must read for all ages :)
 2. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee - As I said before, I enjoy unpopular books over classics, but I just had to include my favorite classic piece of literature! This book is so fun to read, and the plot is exciting and really makes you think. The setting in the south isn't over done with racial things like some books, so I find it tasteful and thoroughly interesting. The characters are super relatable too! :) If you have to read a classic over the summer for a school project or something, read this one and you won't hate it!
3. Speak by Laurie Anderson - I read this book last summer, and it is very well written! The story focuses on a girl who has been raped and her struggle with this unfortunate event. The depression, anxiety, everything that happens in a teenage girl's life. The characters are so relatable, and it deals with such harsh themes in a manner that is understood by many. It keeps you on your toes for sure! There is also a movie, but the book is wayyyy better!
4. Life of Pi by Yann Martel - I love this book! It was popularized by the movie of the same name, but the movie has no comparison to the novel. The author sets up this elaborate story and in the last few pages gives you another story it could have been... It blows your mind! I admit, the beginning does get a little slow, but it does get awesome :) A must read this summer!

 5. Dracula by Bram Stoker - I had to throw another classic in last minute because OMG this book is awesome! It is the original Twilight and all those other stupid vampire books... and is super intense and amazing! It is written in journal entries from the different characters which adds suspense to the whole novel. I couldn't put this book down!
6. True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet by Lola Douglas - This book is the ultimate teen girl novel! I love this book to this day! It is written in diary format and focuses on a famous teen who has to go into hiding to recover from drugs and drinking. It is an essential guide to growing up as a girl, and I really recommend it!

Alright, now to move on to the books that I really dislike..... This is all my own opinion so many will really like these book. I, however, do not!

1. Looking for Alaska by John Green - I started out really enjoying this novel (and truth be told the plot and storyline is pretty good), but the vulgarity of it just threw me off. Do the characters really need to swear every sentence or talk about something sexual every page? It made the book seem childish by promoting the idea that all teens do is have sex, do drugs, drink, and swear. Some teens may, but most don't! It just wasn't the most well written book in my opinion, but John Green does have some other fantastic books!
2. The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame - Worst classic book ever! Seriously, don't waste your time. The story of Mr. Toad is so well known, so I wanted to read the novel that inspired the cartoon movie.... Bad idea! It is so extremely dull and boring that by the time Mr. Toad was even introduced in the book, I wanted him to drown in the river or something! Don't read it unless you want to be bored to tears!

I hope you enjoyed this post! Now remember, these choices are just by my opinion only!!! You may hate my favorites or love my least favorites... All you gotta do is read read read! <3 :)

What are your favorite books? If you would like me to do a post like this with movies, let me know in the comments!!!! :D

How to Prevent and Control Flyaway Hairs

Hey cupcakes! Who hates flyaways? Those pesky little pieces of hair mess up buns and braids by being uncontrollable and unattractive. :/ Recently, I have noticed that the amount of flyaway hairs on my head has been more numerous than previous before. I have been doing some research on how to prevent/control flyaways and wanted to share with you guys my tips to preventing those irritating flyaways! Here is what I have discovered:

-Don't dry out your hair with shampoos and hair products! ~ Some hair products can make your hair super dry and brittle, which will eventually result in half of it breaking off.... Then you have another flyaway!
-Watch out for dry/humid weather! ~ This weather will make flyaways hard to handle :P
-Avoid over brushing! ~ The more static electricity in your hair caused by your hair brush will make flyaways stick straight up!

-Don't over heat your hair!!!! ~ This can damage it and create more flyaways!

-Avoid putting your hair in a ponytail everyday! ~ This can make it brittle in spots....

-Don't wrap it in a towel after you shower! ~ I used to dry my hair in a towel twist every night, but I stopped doing that and the flyaway count has gone wayyy down!
I hope these tips are helpful!!!!! :) How do you combat flyaway hairs???? Comment below!

Movie Review: Inside Out

Release Date: June 19th 2015

Rating: PG
Hey cupcakes! I went and saw Inside Out last night at the theater... and it was AMAZING! It scored a 98% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and I agree with them! It was super cute and funny! First off, there is the most adorable cute short film before the movie even started about two volcanoes in love..... I would have spent money for a ticket just to see this short! The song was sooooo cuteeeeee! Just look at that face! :)
When the movie started I was not disappointed. It was very clever on showing how the brain works, and it was a great kid movie! There were hilarious bits, serious parts, and even a little sad. I highly recommend this movie! I will probably go back and see the movie again... <3 Out of all the emotions (Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust), Sadness would have to be my favorite ;) She really made the movie hilarious!!!!!!!
Have you seen Inside Out? Comment below on what you thought!!!!!!!!!! :D

Taste Testing Random Foods :)

Hey cupcakes! Today I will be doing something very random... but AWESOME! If you are like me, you love trying new things. I personally love trying new foods especially because you never know what tasty treats you will find! Today I will be compiling a list of quick reviews from some different foods I have tried! :D Let's get started!!!!!!!!

1. Goldfish Flavor Blasted Nothin' but Nacho
These Goldfish crackers looked quite tasty, so I decided to purchase them at the store. I normally buy the Cheddar flavor ones, so I expected these to be a little different. Honestly, they don't taste like nachos at all :P They mostly taste like the Pizza flavored Goldfish! It was weird, I don't know why nachos would taste like the pizza flavoring.... But all in all, these crackers were decent! However, I will stick to the normal Cheddar ones ;)

2. Buffalo Ranch Pringles
My mom bought these Pringles for my dad (because he likes spicy things), so I tried them of course! :P I was expecting a spicy BBQ flavor, but it was an interesting concoction. You could not taste the ranch at all, and the buffalo flavoring was odd. It was definitely spicy, but not the kind of spice I like. I would prefer BBQ Pringles any day.

3. Sam's Choice Cheesecake Sampler
This dessert was from Sam's Club... The cheesecake sampler came with 2 slices of 4 different types of cheesecake: Plain, Lemon, Strawberry, and Turtle. This cheesecake was delicious! It was the perfect density and the slice was the perfect size. My personal favorite was the Lemon! :) The crust was a tad too sweet, but overall this was the best cheesecake I have ever eaten!

4. Sour Patch Kids Watermelon
I was at the Dollar Tree the other day and wanted to get my boyfriend and I a snack for the movie we had rented. Normally, we get the regular Sour Patch Kids, but the store was out of them! :/ We decided to try these watermelon ones instead... I LOVED them! In the normal package I only really like the red and blue ones, but these watermelon ones are super yummy! The watermelon taste is just right, and there is less sour on these ones compared to the regular ones. I will probably only buy these ones from now on! <3

InfuseLife Fruit Infuser Water Bottle Review!

Hey cupcakes!!! :) Today I will be reviewing the InfuseLife Fruit Infuser Water Bottle by Lifestyle Dynamics! I had an unused Amazon gift card in purse for the longest time, so I decided to find myself a good water bottle to take with me to college in the fall. I drink A LOT of water but sometimes it just tastes too plain. Does anyone else think that too? I didn't want to get just a regular water bottle (because I have some of those already), and I wanted to stop drinking from tumblers (because food gets trapped in the straw and its kinda gross). Soooooo... I thought a fruit infuser water bottle would be pretty interesting to try out! I got it in the mail a week or so ago and here is what I thought!

My Thoughts:
The bottle itself is only $9.99 for either a red or navy blue 22 oz. water bottle. With shipping, it came to a grand total of around $16. I think that is a reasonable price for what you get. :) The bottle came in perfect condition and shipping only took about a week. The bottle is the perfect size! It is not too big and not too small, and it fits in drink holders in cars and is super portable! The actual infuser can be taken out....
And the cap is super secure so water doesn't go anywhere! That means you could just use it as a plain water bottle on certain days if you wanted! With the purchase of this bottle, they send you a ebook through email with recipes to try; it is a great touch! The possibilities of fruit to infuse is endless, and it makes my water taste great! My favorite so far has been raspberries <3 I now don't have to just drink plain old water! I honestly am so so soooooo happy I bought this water bottle, and I can't wait to bring it with me to college! :)

Want to purchase one for yourself? Buy it here: LINK

*Disclaimer: I am NOT being paid to say this review, nor am I sponsored by Lifestyle Dynamics. I bought this water bottle with my OWN money!*
