Some College Misconceptions...

Hey cupcakes! I have been in college for about two months now (WHOA), and I wanted to make a post about some common college misconceptions. These are things that many people think happen at college when really they may not!

1. You won't have to stay up super late every night - I feel like a lot of movies show college students as never getting enough sleep. If you manage your time well between homework, studying, etc, you will get plenty of sleep most nights!

2. You don't have to drink if you don't want to - So many people think that you must drink when you're at college... There are sooooo many other ways to have fun, so if you don't want to drink, DON'T!
3. Frat parties aren't the only fun things on campus - I haven't been to a single frat party yet. There are wayyyyyy too many fun, free, and sober events on Fridays and Saturdays that I haven't needed to go to one. So if that isn't your kind of fun, there will plenty of things you can do still!!!

4. Not everyone parties - Like I said above, I know a ton of people who like to go to the same events as me (which just so happen to not be parties). Of course there will always be the people who like to party, but that isn't the whole population. You will totally find the niche where you belong!
5. Not everyone is having sex - Of course there are some people who are, but there are a LOT of people who aren't. Again, don't feel pressured to do something you don't want to do!

I hope these common misconceptions helped some of you guys who will be heading off to college soon! If you would like me to do more posts on college related topics, comment below!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a marvelous day everyone! <3 :D

DIY: Sharpie Tie Dyed Canvas Shoes!

Hey cupcakes! Today I will be teaching you all to do something really awesome with sharpies.... tie dye a pair of canvas shoes!!! There are so many expensive pairs of tie dye Keds and Vans out there, so make them unique and do it yourself! I personally love this DIY because no pair of shoes will turn out exactly like another. There are so many cute results! :D Let's get started!
What You Will Need
- Pair of white canvas shoes (around $5 at Walmart)
- A whole bunch of Sharpies (any color you would like!)
- Rubbing alcohol (Isopropyl alcohol)
- Some type of dropper
- Covered, flat surface

1. Before you begin, try to think of (or sketch) a design. This could be random blocks of color, dots, etc. Use your creativity!

2. Using the Sharpies, draw out the design.
3. Take the dropper and get a small amount of the alcohol. Drip it onto the shoe! The Sharpie colors will then start to blend together!

4. Play around with the alcohol - apply only a little, a lot, whatever you think looks the best!

5. Let your shoes dry and TA-DA! An adorable new pair of kicks! <3 :D

Check out Google images for some other great design options! :) What are your favorites?

15 Tips & Tricks for Dealing with a LDR

Hey cupcakes! Today I will be talking about Long Distance Relationships.... I am currently going to college two hours away from my boyfriend and where he is going to college, so I thought I would write out some tips for other couples who might be going through the same thing. I hope these tips are helpful! Enjoy! <3

1. Long distance relationships suck - This might seem harsh, but it is true. The result at the end is worth it though, so even though it is difficult, it is 150% worth it!!!! <3

2. Call and Skype! - Even if you text or have to deal with a time difference, make sure you find some time to call and Skype. It is so nice to hear your significant others voice and to see their face after a stressful day at school!
3. Make sure you don't spend all your time texting them - I know it sucks that they aren't there, but you have to live your own life too. Don't stay in your room Skyping them every night... go do things! It will make for an awesome phone call later on.

4. Plan visits - Nothing is better than seeing your boyfriend (or girlfriend) after not seeing them for days/weeks/etc!!!!!!! The feeling is amazing and is totally worth the wait :) <3

5. You will miss them ALL THE TIME - You just have to get used to the fact that they aren't there and that you will miss them every second of every day.... :/
6. Keep each other informed about what is happening in your lives - Even though there is some distance between you, make sure you still know what is happening in each other's lives!

7. If you don't think it is worth it, it probably isn't - For me and my boyfriend, it is totally worth it. <3 But I know some people who realized they just weren't right for each other. This is ok!! There are plenty of other fish in the sea :) Don't feel like you have to be stuck in a LDR if you don't want to be!

8. Talk about missing each other and your feelings - It actually makes me feel better if my boyfriend and I talk about how sad/frustrated we are with the LDR. It helps us stay on the same page and makes it easier to cheer each other up. <3

9. Stay positive! - This is super important! If you don't believe you can survive the distance, you probably won't be able to... Stay positive and make the most out of a horrible situation!!!!!!!! <3

10. Believe in your relationship - Many people have the belief that LDRs never work out so make sure you don't start to believe that notion too! It IS possible to make a long distance relationship work! :)
11. Tell each other you love them every day - This is so important! It helps you stay positive and happy even though you are far away.

12. Write letters! - I will tell you for a fact that nothing is better than getting a surprise letter in the mail! Even if you don't send care packages or gifts, a letter is so heartfelt and adorable!
13. Prepare to be sad after they have left from a visit - When they leave is the absolute worst, and you will feel the saddest afterwords. Make sure you try to stay positive and know that you will see them again soon!

14. Cry - If you miss them, it is totally okay to cry. Crying will actually make you feel better because it is a good way to release all of those emotions inside of you!

15. When you come home, make sure to spend time with your significant other AND your family - Even though it might seem important to see your boyfriend/girlfriend as much as you can, your family hasn't seen you in awhile either! Make sure to visit them both equally so everyone is happy <3

I hope these tips were helpful! If I think of more, I might do a follow up post later on! :D If you are going through/have gone through a long distance relationship, what tips do you have? Comment below and don't forget to follow!

Taste Testing Random Foods Part 4!

Hey cupcakes! I am back today with another taste test post.... Cuz I love to eat! :P Check out my previous posts here, here, and here! I hope you enjoy! <3

1. Combos Sweet & Salty Caramel Creme Pretzels
I got a bag of these for free at a college event I went to... I personally love pretzels, so I thought they would be interesting to try! I really did NOT like these. The mix between sweet and salty was not a pleasurable one... The caramel flavor was way too overpowering, so it was a lot more sweet. The after taste was not tasty at all, and I would not recommend these...... Just eat normal pretzels!

2. Yummy Earth Organic Gummy Bears
My boyfriend's mom sent me a bag of these gummy bears with him when he came to visit, and I thought they would be perfect for this post! :) Even though they are organic, I think they tasted really good! My boyfriend didn't really like them, but he tends to be a picky eater.... I thought they were super yummy (and a little more healthy than normal gummy bears being organic and all!)!!! :D The fruit flavors were really prominent and the texture wasn't too chewy like some gummy bears can be. I definitely recommend them!

3. BBQ Chicken Pizza
One of the joys of living in a dorm is the fact that there is new food almost every day! This allows me to try some pretty delicious things! There was pizza for dinner one Friday night, and I saw BBQ Chicken Pizza. This seemed totally weird, so I just had to try it! :P Instead of red sauce, there was BBQ sauce, cheese, and then chunks of chicken... It was actually really delicious! I will probably order this at a regular pizza place now! I really recommend this if you aren't the biggest fan of pizza.... YUM!

Movie Review: Fast Girls

Release date: 15 June 2012
Hey cupcakes! Today I have another movie review for you all! This movie is a few years old, and the first time I saw it was on the plane ride to the UK for a family vacation. Recently, I found it on Netflix and because I remembered I loved it so much, I decided to watch it again.

I totally forgot how amazing this movie is!!!!!!! The whole plot is focused on female track runners from Great Britain, and I personally loved it even though I really don't like sports :P Plus, Lily James is in it, and she is so pretty! :) The suspense is awesome during the races, and the ending makes me tear up every time! There are some humorous parts, some serious moments, but this movie is definitely a hit! Parents, there are a few swear words but that is all. If you have Netflix, spend an hour and a half watching this movie!!!!!! I guarantee you will LOVE it!

My Experience: Kurios Cirque du Soleil

Hey cupcakes! Today I will be doing another experience post! :) This summer, I went to see Cirque du Soleil in Chicago! The performance was Kurios Cabinet Des Curiosites...... IT WAS AMAZING!
Now, I have been to two other Cirque du Soleil performances, and I have loved the experience every time! The show is in a tent (which makes it so so sooo much awesomer!), and this one was set up in the parking lot of the United Center. An adult ticket was $89 (I don't know if all the show pricing are the same), but it was totally worth the price! You also have to pay for parking, but the walk to the tent was literally less than 100 meters, so it was definitely worth it. :) To get into the show, you walk through a cool gate
and then get your ticket scanned! You then enter a large tent with food, drinks, souvenirs, etc. There are also bathrooms that are in trailers which is really sweet! I love the whole circus feel to it all <3
When you go to the inner tent to get to your seats, it looks like you went into an actual theater! The seats are quite comfortable! When the clock turned to 11:11 on the stage, Kurios began! :D
The awesome stage! :D
I personally loved this show! It was steam punk themed (which I did not know until I got there) and that in itself made the show awesome!
The costumes, makeup, and lights are all outstanding... The performance itself is mind blowing but those added features really make this show amazing! Many people think it is just a circus but IT IS NOT! There are no animals, or clowns, or silly things you would see at a regular circus. I don't want to ruin any of the acts but there are acrobats, trampolines, chair balancing, contortionists, comedians, and so many other great things! They take blah circus and make it a million times more stunt worthy and awesome! My favorite was the chair balancing act because the guy did some amazing stuff in freakin' khaki pants! :O
The show was 2 hours and 10 minutes long (with a 25 minute intermission), and not a single act was bad! :) I really recommend going to see Kurios (or any Cirque du Soleil performance!)!!!!! It was a great evening, and I hope to see another soon!
