My Favorite Colored Eyeliners

Hey cupcakes! Recently, I have been wearing colored eyeliner a lot. I think this is partly due to the fact that it saves me from having to put on eyeshadow when I'm rushing to my 8:30 AM classes, but I also think it brightens up my looks at the end of this winter (you really need some sunshine on gloomy days!). I thought I would share with you some of my favorite colors/brands of eyeliner, so you all can also embrace this trend! :)

1. Milani Midnight Matte Liquid Eyeliner

This color is a really beautiful dark blue, so if you are looking for a subtle color I would totally recommend this one!

2. Milani Light Teal Eyeliner

Image result for milani light blue eyeliner

I don't think Milani actually produces this anymore (whyyyyy), but I bought this light teal (blueish greenish) eyeliner a long time ago, but I LOVE it! It makes my eye color pop, and I think it is a great statement color.

3. NYX Vivid Brights

If you are looking for a really bold look, I suggest these eyeliners! So many colors and perfect for a statement makeup look!

4. NYC City Proof in Smokey Plum

For those of you who aren't comfortable wearing this trend, I suggest going for a dark purple/plum color. It is the perfect way to ease yourself in to loving the statement pop of color! :)

5. Kleancolor Vibe-Rant Eyeliner

Again, if you are looking for colored eyeliners, cheap makeup is sometimes the way to go! I love searching the Dollar Tree for different shades, and they honestly work just as good as other brands!

DIY: Easy Emoji Pillows

Hey cupcakes! I found this really adorable idea on Pinterest recently, so I thought I would share my version of this really easy craft! Emojis are all the rage recently, so you can make your own emoji pillow to embody your fav emotion :P Let's get started!

Image result for diy emoji pillow

What You Need:
-Yellow felt (how large this is depends on how big you want your pillow)
-Black felt (again, depends on how big your pillow will be)
-Any other colors of felt (depending on what emoji you are creating!)
-Pillow stuffing
-Either a hot glue gun or sewing materials (this can be no-sew if you want an even faster craft!)

1. Lay out your yellow felt on a flat surface. Trace two equal circles onto the felt, marking it with the pen or pencil.

2. Cut out the shapes using the scissors!

3. To turn into the actual pillow, either glue or sew around 3/4 of one of the felt circles, attaching the other circle.

4. TURN INSIDE OUT (this cleans the edges of the pillow) and fill with stuffing.

5. Either glue or sew the remainder of the circle to close the stuffing in.

6. Cut out the shapes needed for the face of the emoji and either glue or sew onto the pillow.

7. Ta-da! An easy and adorable emoji pillow for your room! :D

Free Write #4: Run Over by a Snow Plow?!

Hey cupcakes! I did my last free write all the way back in January (and it got quite a bit of views!), so I thought I would write another one today! :) If you are new to the whole "free write" thing, I basically write for ten minutes after seeing a prompt from this random generator. Today's topic:

Write about a time when you were really brave.

Lol - so for some reason when I saw this prompt I automatically thought about a story from middle school that is pretty funny... Let's begin! In I want to say like 5th grade, I lived in a house that had a pretty long driveway. Every day after school I would walk down this driveway to get the mail from the mailbox that was, obviously, at the end of said driveway. One day in the winter I had forgotten to get the mail after school, and at like 9 PM I remembered. At this time it was snowing outside, but I (for some odd reason) thought it was a brilliant idea to bundle up and walk to get the mail, braving the snow storm. Mind you, the snow had just started like an hour ago, so I was trampling through a bunch of snow to even make it to the mail box (like why didn't I just wait until the next day haha). After a few cold minutes, I make it to the end of the driveway and get the mail, which was only like two bills or something totally lame and unexciting. I start walking back to the house when all of a sudden I hear the scrapping of snow behind me - the freaking snow plow had arrived to plow our driveway!!!!

Being a middle schooler, I automatically thought that I was going to die because it was dark outside, there was snow everywhere, so how was the driver going to see me and/or stop before squishing me with the huge plow?! Heart racing I took off running as fast as I could.... And I eventually made it safely back to the house a few yards in front of the plow (lol - sorry for a really anti-climatic ending). The snow plow finished its job, and we both parted ways safely. Haha - so there you have it, a semi-embarrassing story about the time I almost got run over by a plow for a few lousy bills.

My Top Ten Interview Tips and Trick!

Hey cupcakes, I hope everyone is having a fantastic Monday! :D I have been interviewing A LOT recently (trying to get those summer internships...), so I thought I would make a post about my top tips and tricks for a successful interview! <3 Let's get started!

1. TRY NOT TO GET TOO NERVOUS - I know interviews can be really stressful, but I always try to remind myself that the interviewer is trying to learn from me as much as I am learning from them! A lot of interviews are just for gauging your personality too, so try to keep you nerves in control!

2. Smile - Again, personality is HUGE, so smile occasionally! A smile can do a lot for an interviewer.

3. Be friendly and make small talk - I know people get really nervous for the "tough questions", but there is also plenty of time during an interview to make small talk with the interviewer, get a sense of what it is like to work at the company, and just give off a friendly personality.

4. Take time when asked a question - Before you answer a question, take like 10-30 seconds to get your thoughts together to get a good response. Nothing is worse than getting no where with an answer, and that totally will not impress the interviewer!

5. Dress the part - I feel like this goes without saying... But, I personally feel so much more confident if I take the time to look really nice and curl my hair. This boost of confidence can really help you out during your interview!

6. Bring what you need - I have a really nice sized leather tote/purse that I fill with my padfolio (do forget a copy or two of your resume!), my business cards, etc. You do NOT want to seem unprepared!!!

7. Do quite a bit of research - Make sure you take the time to do quite a bit of research on the company you are interviewing for! By doing this prep, you normally can tell what the company values in its employees (which will help you shape your answers to interview questions!).

8. Send a follow up email - At the end of the interview, ask the interviewer for his/her business card. In the span of 24 hours, you should send them a thank you email referencing what you discussed in your interview. The more personal this is the better!!

9. Don't be negative after the fact - No matter what happened at the interview, don't talk about it negatively or think that it went "terrible". Interviewing is HARD, so wait until the company gets back to you before you tell your friends that "there is no way I got it", etc. Positivity is key!!!! :D

10. Remember, practice makes perfect - I have been going to tons of interviews lately, and some of the positions I don't really want... I figure that the more I practice being in an interview situation, the better I will get! There are also plenty of resources online with practice questions, etc.

How To Style: Subtle Greens

Hey cupcakes! With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, I wanted to make a style post dedicated to the holiday's famous color: GREEN! Now I know green can be an intimidating color to wear, so I thought I would show you three different outfit ideas that all slip in a pop of green. Enjoy!
Outfit 1 - This first outfit incorporates "army" green in the form of pants. I actually really love wearing my army green jeans, and I think navy tops really make the color pop!

Outfit 2 - If you want to go a bit daring, I suggest finding a green top or sweater. I love this mint green color, and I think it is totally wearable! :)

Outfit 3 - This is my favorite! I have been trying to find a cute lace tank top like this for awhile, and I think the green looks super cute with a black pencil skirt and tan cardigan/jacket. So chic and perfect for work!

How do you like to style your green clothes? Comment below and don't forget to follow! :D

My 5 Favorite YouTubers!

Hey cupcakes! All the way back in 2013 I made a post about my top 8 YouTubers... Well, times have changed and I decided it was time to make a new list of who I absolutely love to watch when I have some down time... :) Let's get started!

1. Piinksparkles
Image result for piinksparkles
Samantha seems to be a really down to earth girl, and she always makes me laugh! Her relationship with her boyfriend are literal goals, and I love how she promotes being true to yourself regardless of what other people think. I know she gets some hate for having fake boobs and butt, but I think she is an iconic believer of doing what makes YOU happy. :) Her videos range from the typical beauty guru videos to serious conversations, which makes her channel unique and always interesting to me. I totally recommend you check her out!

2. SoCraftastic
Image result for socraftastic
Sarah is the most amazing crafter out there, hands down! I have been watching her channel for years now, and I think she makes really high quality content for any type of crafter. She always does a great job editing her videos and there are so many bright colors to catch your eye. If you ever are feeling crafty, I totally recommend checking her out!

3. The Challenge Chomp
Image result for piinksparkles the challenge chomp
Going back to my girl Samantha, this is her and her boyfriend's vlog channel. I really love watching all of their vlogs because they aren't like a lot of YouTubers with really outlandish lives (because you know they are young kids making bank and don't have anything other to do). Their vlogs are more down to earth and I guess "realistic" which makes them really fun to watch!

4. Jess and Gabriel
Image result for jess and gabriel conte
Jess and Gabriel Conte are literal goals! I think they are both really funny, so I love to catch up with what they are up to on their vlog channel. Always puts me in a really great mood!

5. David Dobrik
Image result for david dobrik
Like I mentioned in number 3, a lot of YouTubers have some pretty crazy lives, and David Dobrik's is no different. He makes daily vlogs with all of his Viner friends, and they can be pretty hilarious sometimes. It must be nice to sit around making YouTube videos all day and own a Tesla....

Review: NYC High Definition Liquid Eyeliner

Hey cupcakes! :) Quite a few months ago I wrote a review about the e.l.f Waterproof Eyeliner Pen (read about it here!). While I still really enjoy this eyeliner, it is more on the gray side... I have been wanting to find an easy to apply liquid eyeliner that was actually really black, so I thought I would try this one out!
Image result for nyc high definition liquid eyeliner
I found it at Target for only $3.99, and IT IS AWESOME! The tip of the pen is so thin that it is so easy to apply to the lashes, and I can actually ace a wing :P

Look how nice this looks! :D
The color is super black, and it dries matte and lasts all day long (I even wore this on a road trip one day and it didn't smudge!). I think this is a really high quality liquid eyeliner, so I would totally recommend you check it out! :D

Recipe: Baked Banana Chips

Hey cupcakes! Whenever I am stressed or doing lots of homework, I always crave snacks... However, it isn't very healthy for me to eat fatty chips, sweet cookies, etc. I have been loving banana chips recently, because they are more on the healthy side and fill my stomach up quickly. I thought I would share with you all my latest fav recipe for baked banana chips! Let's get started! :)

Homemade Banana Chips | @naturallyella
What You Need:
-2 ripe bananas
Image result for how to tell when a banana is ripe
-Lemon juice
-Parchment paper
-Baking tray

1. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees

2. Slice bananas as thinly as you can (without cutting yourself of course!). The thinner the chips are the faster they will cook! :) *Make sure the bananas are all about the same thickness!*

3. Cover a tray with parchment paper

4. Lay on a baking tray and brush with some lemon juice

5. Bake until the chips have dried out (for about 2 - 3 hours!). To get a more even bake, flip the bananas halfway through!

6. When the chips have turned from a dark gold to brown, remove them from the oven and let cool.

7. Enjoy the delicious snack! :D
